Volunteering in the Great South Coast

Warrnambool City Council acknowledges the valuable contribution that volunteers play in the municipality.

Volunteer Connect provides support and guidance to organisations and community groups that involve volunteers in their work, and provides a volunteer matching service to bring together volunteer roles, and volunteers to fill them.

  • Provide advice to volunteers and potential volunteers about the range of opportunities available and benefits of volunteering.
  • Training and resources for not-for-profit organisations and groups on relevant issues and challenges in volunteering, including Workplace Health and Safety, policy development, volunteer reward and recognition, insurance, induction and much more.
  • Support the South West Volunteer Network with financial management and Secretariat functions.
  • Oversee the registration and insurance coverage of Council volunteers.

Are you interested in the world of second hand and recycled fashion and goods? If so we want to hear from you! Join our vibrant team and help us to raise vital funds to support disadvantaged and vulnerable young people, children and families. It’s a great opportunity to be involved in the local community, help out in a fun and friendly environment, gain valuable retail experience and learn new skills.

St Vincent De Paul Society

After School Education Program Volunteer

This volunteer position is within the Education Programs of the St Vincent de Paul Society in Warrnambool. The role works with young people to promote social, emotional, and academic confidence through participation in education programs conducted outside school hours. You will gain valuable work experience, make friendships and connections with other volunteers and students and be contributing to our student’s emotional, social and academic wellbeing.

We are looking for volunteers to assist in the operation and supervision of the F Project Gallery and Shop. The F Project is a self-funded volunteer based community arts organisation established for over ten years. The Gardens for Wildlife program is designed to support and encourage community members to provide an area in their garden to promote and support local wildlife, providing habitat with indigenous natives or suitable alternatives. The program aims to encourage residents to value local biodiversity and to help conserve indigenous flora and fauna. Volunteers visit gardens of program members and provide recommendations and advice on creating a garden for wildlife.

As arranged, 2 hour time commitment per garden visit to provide advice & prepare report

Patient Transport Driver

Volunteer Drivers collect clients from their homes & drives them in a safe & timely manner to essential medical appointments & treatment. A rewarding volunteer role assisting people who have no other means of transportation. Currently taking expressions of interest for 2021.

Standing Tall Mentor

 

The Standing Tall Mentoring in-school program recruits and trains members of the community to become mentors. Mentoring is the supportive one-to-one interaction between a young person and a caring adult with a focus on supporting and encouraging the young person to fulfil their potential. The crucial component of mentoring is the trusting relationship that develops over time between the mentor and the young person.

Community Visitors visit Victorian accommodation facilities for people with a disability or mental illness in their local area. They monitor and report on the adequacy of the services provided and, where possible, communicate with residents or patients to ensure they are being treated with dignity and respect.

Volunteer Driver

A dedicated team of volunteers who deliver meals to clients in the community.  Importantly, this service is not just about the meal. Our wonderful volunteers also check on the wellbeing of every person who receives a meal.
