Volunteering in the Great South Coast

Warrnambool City Council acknowledges the valuable contribution that volunteers play in the municipality.

Volunteer Connect provides support and guidance to organisations and community groups that involve volunteers in their work, and provides a volunteer matching service to bring together volunteer roles, and volunteers to fill them.

  • Provide advice to volunteers and potential volunteers about the range of opportunities available and benefits of volunteering.
  • Training and resources for not-for-profit organisations and groups on relevant issues and challenges in volunteering, including Workplace Health and Safety, policy development, volunteer reward and recognition, insurance, induction and much more.
  • Support the South West Volunteer Network with financial management and Secretariat functions.
  • Oversee the registration and insurance coverage of Council volunteers.

Volunter Connect provides a free matching service for you to find a volunteer role that suits your availability, skills and interests. The Port Fairy Visitor Information Centre are looking for some volunteers to help out over the summer period. If you love show casing our beautiful region and would like to inform visitors of fun things to do/places to visit, then this volunteering opportunity would be perfect for you!

Are you a social butterfly and do you enjoy meeting new people?  If you have great customer service skills, enjoy retail and want to make a difference to animal welfare, this is for you!

Warrnambool City Council -Music Web Mentor

To build a respectful, trustworthy relationship with the Music Web Mentee based on a willingness to spend regular time undertaking a specific skills-based activity. Interaction may take place, as agreed between mentors and mentees, face-to-face, over the phone, or via digital communication such as Zoom.

Are you passionate about animals? Do you want to play an active role in animal welfare and be a voice for all creatures great & small? If yes, then this volunteering role is a great move for you!  Expressions of Interest being taken for next intake.

Truck Driver/Truck Crew

The Salvation Army are looking for volunteers to help with emptying donation bins, delivering sold goods to customers and collecting donations from donors in Warrnambool & surrounding areas.  Some heavy lifting required. This is a great opportunity to be involved in the local community & be part of a dynamic team.

Required one or more days a week. Various shifts available

Office of Public Advocate

Community Visitors visit Victorian accommodation facilities for people with a disability or mental illness in their local area. They monitor and report on the adequacy of the services provided and, where possible, communicate with residents or patients to ensure they are being treated with dignity and respect.

Ongoing commitment, 8 – 10 hours per month, weekdays

Meals on Wheels

A dedicated team of volunteers who deliver meals to clients in the community.  Importantly, this service is not just about the meal. Our wonderful volunteers also check on the wellbeing of every person who receives a meal.

Approximately 10.30 to 12pm, weekly or fortnightly as rostered. Taking expression of interest for 2021.
