Update for Stage Two business owners-operators

January 4, 2018

Dear Business Owner/Operator,

Planning for the 2018 stage of the City Centre Renewal is on track with the main body of work to begin after the Wunta festival.

It will be an exciting but challenging time for businesses in the section of Liebig Street between Koroit and Timor streets.

The possibility of undertaking the work in two sections – a north then a south section – has already been floated. While this may appeal to some traders, Council needs to ascertain the views of all business operators before making a final commitment on staging and scheduling of the work.

With this in mind Council and the contractor (2Construct), plan to sit down with traders and discuss options that will best accommodate the needs of traders while allowing the project to be completed on time and on budget.

At this stage we plan to hold the meeting with traders in the week starting January 8. We hope to confirm a date and time over the next day or two.

In the meantime Council’s business support team is finalising the promotion to help attract people into the southern block of Liebig Street while construction is under way.

Thank you for your understanding and patience as we prepare for this next critically important stage of the City Centre Renewal.

Regards,

Scott Cavanagh
