The Warrnambool City Council’s kindergartens will open their doors to the public on Monday June 17 for Kindergarten Open Day.

The day will run from 9am until 2pm and promises to be a time of exploration and fun for parents and children considering kindergarten in 2020.

Council runs programs for four year olds at its nine standalone kindergartens (Allansford, Beamish Street, Central, City, Dennington, East Warrnambool, Lions Hopkins, Mahogany and South Warrnambool) as well as its three childcare centres (Florence Collins, Matron Swinton and Sherwood Park).

Warrnambool City Council Preschool Coordinator Mary Chenoweth said that kindergarten was an important learning opportunity in a child’s life.

“As well as being a lot of fun, kindergarten supports children to be curious, to problem solve, explore new ideas, develop strong social skills and encourages a love of learning,” she said.

“Our open day is designed to make the transition to kindergarten as easy as possible for both parents and children.

“On open day you can visit our kindergartens, meet the teachers and get all the information you need to make an informed decision about enrolling for kinder in 2020.”

Council also runs three year old kindergarten programs at Allansford and Mahogany kindergartens.

Both of these venues will have a dedicated three year old kindergarten open day on June 19 from 12.30pm until 1.30pm.

Enrolments for 2020 kindergarten places open on June 17.
