Planning for the future of Allansford

News Article Date:
Friday, 7 December 2018

The township of Allansford has a history stretching back to the 1800s, but what should it look like going forward?

The Warrnambool City Council has begun preparing a review of the framework plan for Allansford.

The review has been funded by the Victorian Planning Authority as part of its Streamlining for Growth program.

The plan will provide a long-term vision and framework to guide land use and development and manage the future growth of the town.

It builds on work previously undertaken as part of the Allansford Urban Design Framework Plan (2003), Warrnambool City Wide Housing Strategy (2013), Warrnambool Open Space Strategy (2014) and Warrnambool 2040 Community Plan.

A public survey is now open to gather feedback on what people like about Allansford and how they think it can be improved.

Council’s Director City Growth Andrew Paton said that the plan would take a long-term and coordinated approach to manage and guide Allansford’s future.

“Allansford was founded about the same time as Warrnambool, so it has a very long and rich history,” he said.

“We want to know what people value most about Allansford.

“This information will help us to understand issues and opportunities that are important to the community.

“Everybody is encouraged to provide feedback including residents, visitors, businesses, and government stakeholders.”

To complete the survey visit Hard copy surveys are also available at the Civic Centre, 25 Liebig Street.

Submissions close on Thursday February 28.

Further face-to-face consultations will take place in early 2019. To register your interest email planning [at] warrnambool [dot] vic [dot] gov [dot] au or call 5559 4800.
