Warrnambool City Council’s Children’s Services Centre is having an open day on Wednesday May 17 as part of National Families Week.

The centre, located at 550 - 600 Raglan Parade, is home to Council’s Early Years team, which manages maternal and child health, child care, kindergarten, community play sessions, parenting support and many other family services.

Children’s entertainer Mr Happy will be performing on the day while the Active Hub with its giant Jenga, Connect4 and chess games will also be set up.

Warrnambool City Council Manager Children's and Family Services Tina McLeod said that National Families Week provided the perfect opportunity to hold an open day.

“From newborn babies through to school-aged children, the Children’s Services Centre is a one-stop-shop for a range of services and programs which help to nurture happy, healthy children,” she said.

“As well as being a fun day out for families with free morning tea and plenty of lively activities, open day is a great chance to find out about all of the services available to you.

“Staff will also be on hand to answer any questions you may have.”

Open day activities will run from 10am until noon.

National Families Week is Australia’s biggest celebration of families in all their diversity, with more than 100,000 people expected to take part in hundreds of community events.

Parents considering  enrolling their child in either three or four-year-old kindergarten are encouraged to also attend Kindergarten Open Day on Monday June 5.
