Great South Coast Infrastructure Update

News Article Date:
Friday, 25 August 2017

While major infrastructure projects provide long-term benefits for the community, many begin stimulating the local economy long before they are complete.

The Great South Coast Infrastructure Update, part of the Great South Coast Small Business Festival, will be held on Wednesday August 30 at 6pm at South West TAFE.

Presented in partnership by the municipalities of the Great South Coast region, the forum is designed to give an insight into major developments and pipeline projects that will present opportunities for various industries to tender for works and leverage infrastructure development for their business.

Projects to be discussed include aged care and mixed use developments, South West Healthcare future stages and wind farms in the surrounding region.

Warrnambool City Council Manager Economic Development and Investment Shaun Miller said that a wide range of industries had the potential to benefit from major projects.

“Significant infrastructure developments present opportunities for various supply chain providers, from heavy logistics, transport and construction, to service providers in real estate, accommodation, health services and education,” he said.

“This event will help businesses prepare for potentially lucrative periods over the next 12 to 18 months by outlining planned development timelines for several major infrastructure projects.

“These projects often reward businesses who seize the initiative, either in applying for tenders or by taking advantage of opportunities to provide their goods or services.”

The event is free to attend.
