Is Flagstaff Hill one of Warrnambool’s best unofficial playgrounds? A free event on Wednesday October 24 aims to demonstrate just that.

As part of Prams 2 Preps, children can attend an array of craft sessions, participate in heritage games and meet the Maremma dogs who protect the Little Penguins on Middle Island.

There are also self-guided activities available like the Spot It Challenge and exploring the 1800s maritime village.

The historic Lady Bay Lighthouse will also be open, as will 40 historic buildings.

Flagstaff Hill Education Officer Jan Barkla said that while the village was home to one of Australia’s best maritime museums, it was also a fantastic place for children to play and explore.

“We had more than 2000 people attend the Warrnambool Toy Library’s Messy Play Day at Flagstaff Hill on Sunday, which was a terrific turnout,” she said.

“A lot of people I was speaking with said that they didn’t realise how great a place Flagstaff Hill is for kids to enjoy.

“At Prams 2 Preps children can feed the animals, get involved in craft and roam throughout our spectacular 10 hectares, in a safe, open air environment.”

Prams 2 Preps activities will run from 10am until 1pm.

The National Children’s Week event is a partnership between Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village and the Victorian Government’s Department of Education and Training.
