Flagstaff Hill temporarily closing for major upgrades

News Article Date:
Wednesday, 26 April 2017

Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village will be closed to the public from Monday May 1 until mid-June as it undergoes major upgrades.

During this period, the attraction will undergo significant renovations throughout the venue, including the installation of a brand new light and sound show.

“The installation of a new light and sound show will help Flagstaff Hill continue to be one of Warrnambool’s premier visitor attractions,” Warrnambool City Council Manager Visitor Economy David McMahon said.

“As well as installing the new show, we are using this temporary closure as an opportunity to carry out façade upgrades as well as renovations and building maintenance throughout the village.

“For anyone who still hasn’t seen the existing Shipwrecked show, you are running out of time. It’s on every night until Sunday April 30 and then it’s gone forever.”

Since 2004, more than 350,000 people have enjoyed the Shipwrecked show.

Flagstaff Hill is rated as 4.5 out of 5 stars on popular travel website TripAdvisor from 600 public reviews and has won more awards than any other Australian maritime heritage centre.

The village is currently open seven days a week from 9am to 5pm.

Anyone can sign up to the Flagstaff Hill mailing list at to be kept up to date.
