CONNECT recognised nationally

Helping the community become better connected has landed the Warrnambool City Council a national award.
CONNECT Warrnambool won the National Parks and Leisure Australia Award for use of technology in Adelaide last week.
CONNECT is a new way to encourage Warrnambool people to be more involved in what's available in the community and get more from where they live.

The website features a searchable database of clubs and groups and a community events calendar. The Facebook page is where residents can find or promote local events, activities and share information.
“Since it was launched in September 2015, CONNECT Warrnambool has delivered an effective new way to connect the community better online - it connects clubs with clubs, and clubs with a wider audience than they could ever reach by themselves,” said Warrnambool City Council Manager Community Policy and Planning Lisa McLeod.
“We are really proud that CONNECT was conceived and developed by (Warrnambool City) Council staff in collaboration with local clubs and groups.
“In the past year CONNECT has created all sorts of efficiencies for the way Council communicates with and supports clubs, and it is offering local residents a better way to access community information online.
“It's great that a relatively small place like Warrnambool can be competitive on the national stage - it's good for the city's reputation as a leader and innovator."
CONNECT Warrnambool was also awarded the Australian Sport, Recreation and Play Innovation Award for Marketing and Communications earlier this year.
