Business owners, professionals and budding entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to hone their skills and learn about emerging industry trends throughout August.

The festival includes 18 events and workshops covering topics such as marketing, time management, exporting and capitalising on new ideas.

Warrnambool City Council Manager Economic Development and Investment Shaun Miller said the Great South Coast Small Business Festival makes it simple to keep on top of emerging business trends while developing new and relevant business skills.

“By facilitating a range of free or low-cost business workshops in south-west Victoria, the festival aims to make it as convenient as possible for local business people to access relevant professional development opportunities,” he said.

“Attending these workshops is an investment in your most valuable business asset, yourself.

“The festival is also a great way to broaden your professional network.”

Highlights include a workshop guiding businesses on how to capitalise on the rapidly growing Chinese tourism market, an address from Winter Olympic gold medallist and successful business founder Lydia Lassila and an analysis of Warrnambool’s current economic environment and trends.

A series of free webinars and podcasts will also form part of the festival offering.

Registrations for all events are now open.

The 2017 festival is a regional partner of the state-wide Small Business Festival Victoria, an annual festival focussed on strengthening the small business sector and acknowledging the contribution small businesses make to the Victorian economy.

The Great South Coast Small Business Festival is proudly presented by the Warrnambool City and Moyne Shire Councils as well as the Victorian Government and media partners The Standard and 3YB/Coast FM.
