Liebig and Lava Street roundabout update: March 3

Work at the intersection of Liebig and Lava streets will continue throughout March.

Sections of the roundabout will be closed to traffic while underground infrastructure, including water mains and valves for Wannon Water, is renewed.

Council will then rebuild the roundabout.

Access to all businesses will be maintained at all times.

Some on-street parking bays will be unavailable while the Wannon Water work is carried out.

Parking along Lava Street and the northern block of Liebig Street will remain open to the public.

Access to the Lava Street taxi rank will be maintained.

“People can still access all the businesses nearby, some customers may need to consider a different approach when driving into the city centre,”WCC Manager Major Projects Ben Storey said.

“For instance to access your favourite shops and businesses in Lava Street between Liebig and Kepler streets, you will need to drive in from a westerly direction.

Parking in the Coles-Younger Car Park is another option.”

From Sunday, March 5 Wannon Water works will affect the south-bound lane of Liebig Street, the intersection with Lava Street will be subject to a full closure from 4.30pm on Sunday and 5.30pm Monday.

The works have been scheduled to occur mostly at night to minimise impact to shoppers.

The night work will finish by 5am.
