Advice for traders, January 25, 2018

Dear Trader,

I write to advise that the decision has been made to complete the renewal works in Liebig Street between Koroit and Timor streets in two sections, a north and south, beginning with the northern section.

Extensive consultation occurred with the traders, 2Construct and the City Centre Project Team regarding the staging of the construction program in 2018.   There was a range of preferences expressed during this consultation period highlighting the complexity and also the different needs of businesses involved in this stage of the works.

Preliminary work will begin in the week starting Monday, January 29. This will involve minor excavation activity to investigate power, water and telecommunication infrastructure.

There will be a full road closures between 10pm, January 29 and 8am on January 30 to allow for vegetation clearing ahead of the main earthworks which will start on February 5, following the Wunta Festival.

Council remains committed to working with you throughout the renewal to ensure the work is, where possible, delivered in a way that minimises the impact on businesses.

Over the next few weeks the Economic Development Unit will begin rolling out a promotion to help encourage people to continue to support Liebig Street businesses.

We encourage you to let your customers know that they can take advantage of free parking in Ozone Car Park and that parking is also available in Cramond and Dickson Car Park, with both providing safe and easy access to Liebig Street.

Please don’t hesitate to contact City Renewal Project Manager Ben Storey if you have any queries regarding the construction program. For matters relating to the business support package please contact City Renewal Placemaking Officer Helen Sheedy.
